Rich Gbessi

I'm a first-generation kid who grew up in the Bronx and was raised by his Togolese parents, so my middle and high school life was very much centered around Math, Science, and English. I was good at it but working in that field was something I did NOT want to do. I only ever knew about film, photography, and just cameras in general when I joined a film class in an afterschool program when I was younger. A few weeks into those classes I thought, "Yeah this is something actually enjoyable that I can see myself doing in the future." And I know that experience rerouted my life's direction.
Later in college, I made Film & TV Production my major and I let that creativity spread, studying as a cinematographer and creating my personal reel. Now out of school, I'm still trying to grow in the creative field of film and photography. I've worked on several commercials, and short film projects growing in the camera and grip department. I'm also practicing street photography and I'm using that skill for events, performances, and working with models; hopefully, this website will prove that to you.
Now working as an NYC-based photographer & camera assistant, if you want a photoshoot for any reason / need an extra hand on a film production, just text me on Instagram or email me on Gmail.
